As no entries have been received by the closing date of Fri 23 October (see 16 Oct update below), the competition is now closed. The GBP 25 will be donated to a charity for roos - we think a very worthwhile cause!
As no-one has supplied their competition details (see 08 October update below), we are re-opening the competition for one week only (until Fri 23 October) for the unallocated 3rd prize (GBP 25). In order to enter, you will need to:
We are delighted to announce the first and second place prize-winners of the competition! These are:
The competition is now closed. If you entered the competition by completing this
questionnaire, we will need to have a way of contacting you in case you are a
prize-winner. In order that we can do this, can you please email the following
information to us (roo@kangasound.com or
joey@kangasound.com) from your questionnaire:
Your town/city. If you did not specify this on the questionnaire, then your country.
At least one of:
With just one week to go until the competition closing date, the number of complete
questionnaire responses (and hence competition entrants) we have received is just 10.
If there are no more respondents, this would mean an average payout per
competition entrant of 175/10 = GBP 17.50, with a one in ten chance of winning
the top prize (GBP 100).
If the number of respondents were to double, the average payout per competition
entrant would be 175/20 = GBP 8.75, with a one in twenty chance of winning the
top prize.
We thought we'd reveal these statistics, as some people may be put off from
entering the competition if they wrongly assumed there to be a large number of
competition entrants. Remember that there is no monetary cost to entering the
competition, just 10-15 minutes of your time completing the questionnaire.
The number of questionnaire respondents/competition entrants will be published
on or soon after the competition closing date.
As fewer than 100 questionnaire responses have been received, the competition closing date has now been extended by 2 weeks to Tuesday 29 Sep 2009. This is the final competition closing date, i.e. it will not be extended further.
In addition, the competition prize amounts have now been doubled! The new competition prizes are shown below (the old ones are shown crossed out).
As a reminder, you will need to check this web-page a day or two after the competition closing date (29 Sep 09). This is because we will ask competition entrants (ie those who have completed the questionnaire) for a few pieces of information from their questionnaire to be emailed to us, so that can match up questionnaires with contact email addresses, and allow us to contact the winners.
Here are details of a competition based around the Kangas Sound Editor questionnaire:
Prizes:
Complete the Kangas Sound Editor questionnaire
Prizes are awarded based on how good your response is according to three criteria:
The competition closing date is Tuesday 15 Sep 09 UNLESS fewer than 100 questionnaire responses are received by that date, in which case the closing date will be extended by 2 weeks to Tuesday 29 Sep 09.
The aim is to distribute prizes within two weeks of the competition closing date.
First, winners need to be identified. As the questionnaire doesn't ask for contact details, this will be done as follows:
The questionnaires will be examined to determine the minimum information that would uniquely identify the winners. This is likely to include the respondents city/town, plus one or two other pieces of information such as age and work status.
A request will then be placed on this web-page (so please bookmark it!) within a few days of the competition closing date asking competition entrants to email this information to roo@kangasound.com or joey@kangasound.com, plus, if possible, a piece of free format information such as a comment they made on the questionnaire.
If a winner can't be identified after one week (since the date the request for identifying information was placed on this web-page), then his/her prize will go to the respondent with the next highest score that can be positively identified. This could involve the respondent who would have got the second prize getting the first prize, or a respondent who would have won nothing getting the third prize etc.
Note that when this competition is over, prizes have been awarded, etc. the information emailed in will be deleted - there is no intention to use this information for any other purpose.
Winners will be paid through Paypal, so they need to have an email account linked to Paypal. The prize amounts equate to the amount that we pay, it is possible that Paypal may deduct a fee or foreign exchange commission which would slightly reduce the amount you actually receive.
As is the case with most other competitions, the judges decision is final and cannot be appealed. The winners will be asked whether they can be revealed as the competition winners (so people know this is a genuine competition), but they can decline if they wish.
